A Fantasy Portrait is a portrait of a special person in an impossible or fanciful situation, Like two lovers rowing a boat in a stream though they're miles apart, or Brad playing with The Beatles even though he wasn't born yet, or a travel-loving couple on the road again, with six of their favorite cars.

Why DON'T More People Buy Art?
The price of a piece of art can cause some shock. But think of the value! Art crafted with quality materials and with the correct procedure will last longer than the buyer. As long as the art is carefully handled, stored and displayed, it can be enjoyed by many generations! So when you consider how money comes and goes (especially goes), and how art lasts for ages, a few hundred dollars is a bargain!
2) They Don't Know Anything About Art
You don't have to be an art historian or art critic to buy art, especially if you collect from emerging artists. Take your time! Check out galleries, art fairs, open studios, and online art galleries. Decide what you like, what you want to pay for, and start your collection!
Whether you decide to collect art from emerging artists or well established artists, a great book is Alan Bamberger's book The Art of Buying Art.
That is NOT a paid recommendation. I like his book.
3) They Don't Know What "Good" Art Is
I hear this one from a lot of my newer clients. They tell me they want a certain piece, but they don't know anything about art or what good art is. I tell them good art is art that makes them happy. It doesn't matter what art critics think, only what you think. An art critic probably won't be at your house to see your collection anyway, right?
It's simple: If you like it, it's original, and it's well made, then it's good.
4) They Feel Prints are Good Enough
Prints are OK if that's what you want. Just remember, unless you're buying limited edition, hand pulled artisan prints, you're only buying copies. Don't be fooled by the classy French sounding word glicee'.
Glicee' means spray, as in ink jet.
Terms, Conditions, and Policies:
These are one of a kind pieces of original art. Orders
are filled on a first come first serve basis. I will try to make you
happy by offering a replacement or commission.
About Prints: I occasionally market and
sell prints of my work. However, once a painting sells, you have my
promise that I won't make any more prints from that painting. I want
your painting to retain its value!
I reserve the right of reproduction of my paintings for marketing and
promotional material, including the use images of sold paintings on this
website, on Facebook, business cards, post cards, postersetc. Again, I
won't make and/or sell prints of sold paintings.
Payment in full is required before artwork is shipped.
I use third party checkout sites. I never even see your credit card information.
If you wish to purchase by check or money order, please contact me at 906-204-4683, or email at john@artofjohnfrench.com . In most cases, I will wait to ship until the check has cleared the bank.
I ship within the United States only. I ship within three business days. In some local cases I deliver personally.
You may hang and view your painting
for seven days after you get it. If you decide that you don't like it,
return it for an even trade or a refund. After seven days, all sales are
final except in the case of damaged goods or misrepresentations on my
part.
All commissioned sales are final. If you are not satisfied, I'll do my
best to fix it. For obvious reasons, I can't offer refunds on
commissions. Nobody wants a painting of your dog or your house.
