Look how this little boy studies the dandelion, while a large, open landscape stretches out behind him.
Many people have compared this painting to "Christina's World" by Andrew Wyeth. I can certainly understand, although it wasn't a concsious decision on my part. The child was painted from a photo I took of my son, but the background -based on the wide open scenery in Southern Illinois- is invented.
